One of the things I like so much about singles yarns (yarn that is not plied) is that I find that it shows stitch definition so nicely. Cables, bobbles, textured stitches: they all yell POP when knit up in a singles yarn. This adorable vest can be made with as few as 3 balls of yarn (that's one affordable vest, yo!) and has got plenty of fun stitches to keep your interest. Best of all, once it's done it'll keep you warm from fall through winter, just by changing what you wear underneath. We made it in my favorite purple color, so it's guaranteed to keep you (or your favorite student) feeling happy and cheerful no matter what their day may bring. Best of all, this pattern is free! So go get it! (P.S. I really like this model we used, but don't you guys agree that she looks a bit like a young Valerie Bertinelli - who, btw, would have totally worn a vest like this back in the day!

I'm in love with this gorgeous beret pattern, called Janet, and available for free on the Tangled Knits website. She made this beauteous thing in Alpaca Love, in the Dusk color, and it only took her a single ball of yarn! The fall is coming and I'm sure you'll want one of these jobbers on your head. So get knitting!

You saw her in the Stitch Nation by Debbie Stoller ad in Crochet Today, and you've been loitering around the site waiting for the free pattern you were promised to appear. I apologize for the delay in getting her up, but she's finally here! The Filigree Cardigan pattern is now available for your hooking pleasure! And it's 100% free! (Maybe i should have called it File-free cardigan?) Made in one of my favorite shades of Bamboo Ewe yarn, she's glamorous, silky soft, and wearable over a pretty dress (as shown in the pic) or to dress up a pair of jeans. Go get 'er!
